Ho Ho h...wait, it's Thanksgiving NOT Christmas!

I haven't blogged the last couple of days not because I have not cooked [I have cooked primarily dishes already blogged about] but because I am preparing for our very first Thanksgiving by ourselves. So all I have been able to think about for the past few days is everything I am going to cook, how I am going to prepare the food, will it turn out right, so on and so forth! I am very excited to do this on our own, but I am also anxious for the reasons mentioned above and because I am still not close to 100% with my health.

I love Thanksgiving... in fact, I love this entire part of the year! First Halloween, then Thanksgiving, my birthday AND Christmas. It saddens me, though, that Thanksgiving has been routinely looked over the last couple of years for the infamous Black Friday sales and preparation for Christmas. We should stop and celebrate with our families, slow down some and acknowledge the importance of having time with those we love. While I am extremely excited to be celebrating this season with my Panda Bear, I am sad that I will be without my momma for these holidays. She's my lifeline and has always gone above and beyond with the holidays! She loves to cook  and I, too, have started to love it.

So, I want to know what your favorite dishes are for Thanksgiving! Share with me... everything and anything!! What are your favorite memories? What dishes have you inherited from your loved ones? And, more importantly, what recipes are you willing to share with me??  :) For me, I love the bigger picture -- that is, EVERYTHING!! I love the turkey and stuffing; the corn bread and vegetables. I love the mashed potatoes and especially the gravy!!

This year our menu looks like this:
Deep Fried Turkey
Corn Bread Stuffing
Easy Cheesy and Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Stuffed Sweet Potatoes [for Nicholas!!]
Corn and Broccoli
Biscuits, buns or a cool jalapeño, cheddar twist on corn bread, but some bread derivation
Homemade Cranberry Sauce
And some sort of pie [maybe??]

So, if any of you have any suggestions, tips AND recipes you would like to share, please leave a comment below! I would love to hear stories, I would love to pick up some recipes and I would LOVE to share this very special season with all of you!!! As you can see I am still uncertain about some of the menu, especially the dessert part - it would be my great pleasure to make your famous cherry pie and blog about how delicious it is later this week!

I hope you all have a very blessed week leading up to this Thanksgiving Holiday!

Until next time,
Happy week of Thanksgiving[s]!
