Homemade Chicken & Cabbage Potstickers

It’s Thursday and I am feeling under the weather. Most people stay in bed when they don’t feel well; not me. I jumped out of bed and started cleaning the house. I was down on my hands and knees {feeling like I was going to pass out any minute} trying to make everything appear clean.

I feel satisfied… for now.

Honestly, it does not pass my inspection, but after 3 hours I could not take it anymore.

So, I moved on to Pippy. He was not amused at all.

I brushed him. I spritzed him. I fluffed him. Then I demanded he do a bunch of tricks.

He was rewarded.

He now has four new rawhides that he’s chewing and hiding everywhere. He will definitely forget that I gave him fun things and look at me with contentment because I brushed him.

I just can’t win.

Now I am sitting in my bed with my Army sweats on and am watching The Real Housewives of Orange County {RHOC} re-runs. Thank you BravoTV… THANK YOU!

Now I can feel that my entire body hurts and all I want to do is curl up in a ball to cry a little bit – and hopefully drift off to sleep.

Sleep is unlikely. Instead I will probably try to figure out what to cook this weekend and sit around researching things to experiment with. But, at least I will be snuggled in my bed. That is all that matters today.

Food usually makes me feel better; but earlier today some trainer on the RHOC said that food is nourishment. If you’re eating and craving everything, you must find the root of the problem – what parts of your life are not being nourished in the right way.

REALLY?! At that very moment I was thinking about eating potato chips.

Divine Intervention? Perhaps.

Stupid Coincidence? Yeah, let’s go with that.

I want potato chips. And I will tell you that I lack certain grown-up nourishment since Nick is away.

Try talking to your dog with no response for an entire week, you’ll want to down a bag of potato chips, too.

Okay, I think I’ve rambled on long enough.

Today I have great Homemade Chicken and Cabbage Potstickers. These are one of Nick’s favorite foods in the whole world. I know I will be making these for him very soon!

 Here is what you will need:

  • 3 ounces chicken, cooked & cut into very small pieces
  • ½ cup cabbage, shredded into small pieces
  • ½ tablespoon soy sauce
  • ½ tablespoon canola oil
  • 12 wonton wrappers
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed
  • ½ teaspoon splenda
  • ½ cup water, divided
  • Little bowl of water


  • In a bowl, combine the chicken, cabbage, soy sauce, salt, pepper, garlic and splenda. Mix until everything is coated evenly. Set aside
  • In a skillet, heat oil over medium – high heat.
  • Meanwhile, fill the wonton wrappers with about ½ to 1 teaspoon of the mixture. Wet the edges of the wonton wrappers with water and seal tightly
  • Put about 6 of the wontons in the skillet and pan fry for about a minute on each side, until golden
  • Reduce heat to medium, pour ¼ cup water into pan and cover. Allow to steam for about 5 minutes
  • Remove to plate and repeat with remaining potstickers.
  • Serve with soy sauce or your favorite sweet and sour sauce.

These were really good. I am not usually a huge fan, but making them myself must have made the difference! I ate them at lightning speed!
